Vegetable tanning is an ancient eco-friendly process using natural materials like bark extracts, leaves, roots and fruits to transform animal hides into leather. The result is a malleable medium with unique colors and finishes that develop a beautiful patina over time. Designs are brought to life by introducing moisture to the leather and sculpting it with uniquely shaped modeling and stamping tools. All carving, tooling, stitching, dyeing and finishing is performed by hand.
