These anthropomorphic woodland characters are created through the process of needle felting wool. These sculptures do not portray an exact realism, but strive to evoke a fantastical, yet accessible, world that fosters a sense of wonder and awe and where animals interact and connect through human like qualities. Through this exploration I hope to reconnect people to their sense of imagination and encourage a moment of child-like intrigue. Each piece is created by hand through the time intensive process of felting, eschewing more technological methods of creating and taking a small stand against the loss of handwork and skill in our current tech-obsessed society. The slow process also allows each piece to develop as I work, enabling the work itself to have a voice in the final outcome.
