Fine Craft Shows at Chautauqua July 12–14 & August 9–11, 2024
I am a self-taught artist and have been exhibiting Contemporary Metal Sculpture since 1972. My father owned an auto/body shop and taught me the skills I would need to create in this medium. I have lived with a hearing disability my entire life and started creating art as a way of expressing myself. I feel being a self-taught artist brings a rawness to some of my pieces. All of my work is original in design and created by myself. My works are primarily welded steel. I try to incorporate materials with a previous life, bringing the past with the present. My materials, much like people, are often imperfect and dented, showing signs of wear, yet having a story and waiting to be transformed.
