Fine Craft and Art Shows at Chautauqua July 11–13 & August 8 –10, 2025
When I make something with my hands, I put my heart into it too. I hope that people who experience my work will feel this tug on their own hearts. For the most part my raku and soda/wood fired animal series bring awareness to threatened or endangered species. My artistic vision is to create pieces that reflect what that connection means to me. I typically combine hand-building methods as I work using slabs that I alter and refine. Their sweet personalities and patterned “hides” make each unique and lovable. The idea of bowls with feet is not new. The iconic Egyptian footed bowl resides in a museum. My footed bowls are created from stoneware clay slabs and hand built. They are thematically based on interpretations of popular footwear designs or well known characters. They express attitude without a face. They can be functional, holding practical things, yet quirky. They can be customized so anyone can have their unique footed bowl.
