Everything I make used to be a cashmere sweater! I began by using my own cast off sweaters to make mittens for my family for Christmas one year and a business was born! In addition to mittens, I use my own patterns to make an array of stuffed animals (elephants to starfish, octopus to dinosaurs) and many other items. I challenge myself to use every last bit of a sweater. For example: collars, button plackets, seams, and ribbing around wrists are the basis for jellyfish. I cut scraps into tiny hearts, and the smallest pieces come together for Napping Pillows. Giving a new life to items headed for landfills is certainly satisfying, but I also love thinking of fun and fabulous things this to make from this versatile, luxurious, beautiful material.
