I grew up with a forest outside my backdoor and have many memories enjoying trees of all shapes and sizes. I also grew up in my father’s construction business using wood daily for utilitarian purposes like building walls. It wasn’t till my early 20’s when I had my own construction business that I realized the brilliance that nature gave us through wood; it was then that I found my passion for highlighting that beauty. Each piece is designed around the natural shape of the wood which I than accentuate, often times using steel to add strength, diversity and elegant lines that complement the wood. Years ago I realized how many large and old trees are cut down in towns that go to waste. I started inquiring about these trees and I am often able to reclaim them before it’s too late. That is where all of my projects start, taking an unwanted log to the local mill, carefully staking and drying the wood until the time comes when I can use it to create furniture that will last a lifetime
