I’m interested in how the use of imagery and pattern can connect a person to a piece of pottery. While designing my work, I look to home décor themes; Eclectic, Bohemian, Mid-century, Cottage Core and Contemporary styles help to inform my ideas about making pottery for the home. I've chosen to throw with dark-brown stoneware because it’s equally rich with or without glaze allowing me to create pattern in unglazed areas. Using glaze resist techniques, I create layers of color and pattern on each surface. I'm partial to botanical and geometric patterns, black and white, high-gloss transparent glazes, jewel tones, muted colors and bare clay. I often integrate these design essentials into my work. A piece is successful when the glaze fluctuates effortlessly throughout the form. Lockwood Ceramics offers a variety of products including vases, bowls, platters, lamps, cabinet hardware, spoon rests, sponge holders, soap dispensers, bottles, jars, garlic keepers, and mugs.
