Fine Craft Shows at Chautauqua July 11–13 & August 8 –10, 2025
My art work transitions across various vehicles of expression. Initially traditional, the functional bowls elevate form beyond function to create pieces of exquisite beauty-for example classic or contemporary bowls. Though many of the turned works include perfect symmetry, it is the imperfect that I find interesting in a way that perfect never can be – yet both are appealing in their own ways. More recently, color has infused the works, in some cases using paints for a vivid additional dimension to turned work. For the sculptures, I combine North American hardwoods with exotics for color – less vivid than paint but richer in grain and hue. Wall work provides the opportunity to create a focal draw of greater impact to a room that combines color, design and mood – some abstract and bold, some colorful yet fanciful and some that take us to another place. Throughout this process, regardless of vehicle or medium, I continuously strive to touch the viewer as my work evolves.
