Fine Craft Shows at Chautauqua July 11–13 & August 8 –10, 2025
Weaving has always been a magical process for me. I never tire of the thread-by-thread creation it allows, the moment-by-moment experience. I love combining color and pattern in ways that create depth and meaning. For my scarves, I specialize in fine thread: silk, bamboo, Tencel, and even thread made from recycled plastic! I particularly love working with color and old weaving patterns to create modern accessories for women and men. Every scarf I weave is different. On some scarves, I hand-paint the warp with dye and then weave them in patterns that allow the colors to shine through. It is important for me that the pieces look different from different angles. This brings an aliveness to the scarf, as well as to the process of creating the scarf. Finally, I hand finish each piece with double hemstitching, and braided or twisted fringe, sometimes adding beaded embellishments. This gives a polished and elegant look to each piece of wearable art.
