I make one of a kind garments for women. All my pieces start with white cloth, including cotton, linen, silk, wool, and rayon. Each piece is hand dyed with its own unique design. Multiple dye techniques are layered one upon another, selectively adding and removing elements to create the final result. Techniques include stamping, painting, screen printing, mono typing, and Japanese resist dying (Shibori) pieces. All pieces start with cloth from a bolt. The garment is designed and sewn by me. I may repeat a garment shape, but not the dyed design. Clothing is really a form of sculpture that is only complete once it is on the body. The person wearing the piece gives it that final element to make it whole. That is why I try to make each piece unique, so that when it finds its owner, the person becomes a walking work of art.
