Fine Craft Shows at Chautauqua July 11–13 & August 8 –10, 2025
Beginning with mostly white silk or a rayon silk blend, each piece is first stretched taut, then dyes are applied by hand using finely pointed French brushes. I use salt, shibori, devoré, and some marbling techniques for special effects. After the piece is dried, it is steamed for five hours and then washed to ensure color permanence. Then each piece is hand-cut and sewn into various pieces of wearable art for patrons to enjoy for years to come.
