Fine Craft Shows at Chautauqua July 12–14 & August 9–11, 2024
My work is a combination of three distinct techniques: traditional metalsmithing; a contemporary material known as precious metal clay; and colored epoxy resin, also known as cold enamel. I fabricate frameworks that hold images made with the metal clay and overlay with resin – one color at a time. The surface is sanded and polished, resulting in a surface that looks like glass. When experienced in person, my pieces have a visual depth that is, by contrast, flattened in photos. I am inspired by universal stories, our living earth, and architecture.
