Using a torch that is fueled by oxygen and propane glass rods are melted to a molten state and transferred to a mandrel (stainless steel rod), creating the initial base part of the bead. At this point the creative process begins as I manipulate the molten glass using heat, gravity and tools. I then add textures by using frits, powders, stringers and foils. I am fascinated by the beginning stage of cold solid glass being transformed into a molten state and the freedom to create and mold it into my own unique design. And the glass returning to a solid state showing my creative expression. I have long had a love and attraction to bright bold colors. I find the shiny, high gloss, bright color combination of my lampwork beads appealing and just fun. I so enjoy the entire process, it is my hope that it carries over to my customer’s enjoyment of wearing my lampwork glass beaded jewelry.
