Working from a production workshop in Old City, Philadelphia, Claudia Mills designs and creates handwoven contemporary rag rugs. For over three decades, Claudia has offered a line of individually designed and custom created site-specific rugs. Practiced in many cultures, the art of weaving rag rugs has a timeless quality. While they have been traditionally woven with recycled textiles, Claudia creates her rugs in a fresh palette of colors and new fabrics, updating the age-old technique to create contemporary rugs for today’s homes. As a designer, Claudia strikes a balance between color, texture and pattern in each rug. Interlacing colored yarns and strips of fabric create infinitely variable possibilities for color and textural effects.
