Fine Craft Shows at Chautauqua July 11–13 & August 8 –10, 2025
I use a combination of chasing and repousse and hand-engraving to create my pieces, primarily in sterling silver with gold accents. Chasing and repousse are ancient sculpting techniques that use nothing but a hammer and blunt tools to push the metal from both the front and back to create images. While chasing and repousse do not remove any metal, engraving removes metal to reveal the image. With this technique, the pieces are worked from the front and metal is removed, similar to a sculptor working in marble although on a much smaller scale (all of this work is done under a microscope). Each image I use is hand drawn, and each of my pieces is a one of a kind.
