Fine Craft Shows at Chautauqua July 11–13 & August 8 –10, 2025
My work is my meditation. The rhythm of individually sewing tiny beads to create a lush, wearable piece of art is fulfilling and relaxing. Using objects that may have relatively little value on their own, I combine traditional techniques with contemporary processes to create a valued piece of jewelry. The material is my inspiration, whether it begins with a unique cut and polished stone, a discarded piece of vintage jewelry, or a butterfly wing. I gather beads and other components that will work together with this focal piece to reflect its feeling and create a unified whole. It is important to me that my jewelry be wearable, as well as beautiful. I devote much time to ensure a piece drapes perfectly, flattering the wearer. My work is constantly evolving. While continuing to work with bead embroidery and bead weaving, I explore adding dimension and combining other media and processes.
