The sea speaks to me. My hand fabricated jewelry is an exploration of the ocean environment and the fauna that reside under its surface, capturing the movement of mythical sea creatures, whether they be swimming, plunging, or floating in the water. I reference images of sea creatures and the movements of water, distilling them to a linear form which I can translate into fluid forms forged in silver and gold. Living on the Atlantic Coast for the last 30 years has gifted me the means and time to walk the beach, study the atmosphere and environment, and collect shells on the beach I call home. I fabricate the settings for natural shells and gemstones out of gold sheets and wires. The tentacles are sculpted by forging round sterling wires on an anvil to create a fluid sense of motion. Traditional blacksmithing techniques and hand tools are the foundation of my metals practice.
